Felton Brown is an entrepreneur who owns a freight company called Alpha International Transport LLC, which he established in 2021.
Felton was referred to Branches’ Microbusiness Program by the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce. He was seeking support with business planning and tax preparation.
After enrolling in the program, Felton began developing a strategic business plan for Alpha International Transport. Part of this plan was to acquire all the proper licenses and certificates required to conduct business. Branches played a big role in helping him navigate that process.
Felton has been equipped by Branches with a rocket book, enabling him to digitally store crucial business notes. Additionally, Branches supplied Felton with a dedicated business laptop, branded polos for his business attire and a professional photo-shoot for his marketing content.
Branches also encouraged Felton to apply for the 8A Certification, a robust nine-year program created to help firms owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals. Businesses that participate in the program receive training and technical assistance designed to strengthen their ability to compete effectively in the American economy. Felton has applied for the 8A Certification program and looks forward to hopefully participating!
Felton did not have enough capital to sustain and grow his business. He needed approximately $50,000 to cover the cost of staff and materials needed for shipments. In 2022, the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce awarded Felton with a $100,000 grant to help cover the cost of space, vehicles, and staffing!
Felton consistently works hard to maintain the success of his business. In May 2023, he participated in our CNB SPARK Business Pitch competition and secured an impressive second place win.
Branches is proud of how far Felton has come and looks forward to continuing to support him as he grows his company Alpha International Transport.
